Mountain bike trails in Rokua National Park

The terrain of the Rokua ridge and dune area is perfect for mountain biking: the routes are wide and level, with only few difficult rocks or ruts. In the National Park area there are about 45 kilometres of marked mountain bike trails on the ridges; here the gradients can be challenging even for experienced cyclists and mountain bike enthusiasts. In winter, a 9.4-kilometre multi-use trail also suitable for fatbiking is maintained in Rokua. Mountain biking trails in Rokua National Park are marked with yellow and brown mountain biking symbols.

Please stay on the marked mountain bike trails! The terrain in Rokua is very fragile. Cycling off the trails causes unnecessary wear and tear on the landscape and vegetation.

Vaala–Rokua hiking and cycling trail

The route between Vaala and Rokua National Park is now open to hiking and mountain biking. At the Vaala end, the trail starts near Vaalankurkku and continues through marshlands and the Little Rokua dunes to Rokua National Park.

Oulu River Valley Tar Route

The Tar Route follows the Oulu River from Sankivaara in Oulu to the Rokua National Park. The route is challenging for mountain bikers in places, especially in the swampy areas and on the rocky banks of the Oulu River. Please be careful when cycling as there are also hikers on the Tar Route.
