The Aikamatka exhibition in the Vaala library tells the story of the creation of the Rokua UNESCO Global Geopark landscape, from the first stages of development of the bedrock to the last ice age, the creation of ridge formations and the spread of human settlement and biota in the region after the ice age.
In Vaala’s exhibition, you can get to know the origin and history of the Oulujärvi landscape in particular. The actual main structure of the exhibition is formed by a cylinder-shaped timeline, which describes the moments of creation of the key landscape features of the Rokua Geopark area. Inside the cylinder, with the help of virtual glasses, you can also experience past landscapes from, for example, the times of ancient mountains and the Stone Age.
The Time Travel exhibition can be found in every municipality in the Rokua Geopark area, in Muhos, Utajärvi and Vaala, each of which specializes in presenting the birth story of the landscape of its own neighborhood.
The Vaala library’s exhibition is open according to the library’s opening hours.
Check the library’s opening hours on the Vaala municipality’s website.
